Amazing Stories
- Day Old Baby Left on the Doorstep is the true story of my sister-in-law's unsuccessful family search for their mothers' biological parents in 2000 and 2003, five years before she passed away in 2005. I attended the May 22-23, 2009 Climbing Your DNA: Genetic Genealogy at the Allen County Public Library sponsored by the Genealogy Center featuring Roberta Estes a leading expert in the field of DNA and genealogy. I decided to post this web page hoping someone will eventually come across it and perhaps with DNA testing eventually the mystery can be solved.
- A Good Morning America television story May 14, 2009 on two baby Oregon girls switched at birth May 3, 1953. Their mothers suspected the switch, but the times didn't allow questioning doctors and hospitals so no blood tests were ever conducted. The two families are now united forever with no hard feelings about lost memories and experiences. Modern DNA tests will reveal similar family secrets as tests becomes more popular.
- "Mistaken Identity: Two Families, One Survivor, Unwavering Hope" this book details the tragic mix up when a traffic accident April 26, 2006 claimed five of six lives of Taylor University students south of Fort Wayne on Interstate 69. The mistaken identities were not clarified until the survivor Whitney Cerak regained consciousness five weeks later in the hospital shocking the Van Ryn family weeks after the body of their daughter Laura Van Ryn was buried by the Cerak family.
