SOLDIER IS DEAD

PETER DAUM, FORMERLY OF BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, REPORTED DEAD OF PNEUMONIA, AT CAMP DODGE, IOWA.

Mrs. Flora Daum, who lives a short distance east of Columbus, received a telegram this morning, informing her that her husband, Peter Daum. who is in the military, service and was stationed at Camp Dodge, Ia., had died of pneumonia in a camp hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Daum were married last February, when they went to South Dakota to live. Two weeks ago the husband was sent into the service from that state, when Mrs. Daum returned to this county. The dead man's father, J.J. Daum, is living at Elwood.

BODY EXPECTED

The body of Peter Daum, who died of pneumonia at Camp Dodge, Ia., is expected to arrive here tomorrow morning and when it arrives it will be taken to the home of the widow's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nolting, of Clifford. The funeral will probably be held Sunday afternoon from the Nolting home.

PETER DAUM FUNERAL

The body of Peter Daum will arrive here from Camp Dodge, Ia., this evening and will be taken to the home of his father-in-law, John Nolting on the "Nigger Hill" road, east of this city. The funeral will be held from the Nolting residence Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. Firnhaber. Burial in Clifty cemetery.
