The Republic Columbus, Indiana Saturday, July 15, 1882 Page 1 OBITUARY Departed this life at her home in Clifty township, July 10, 1882, Mrs. Elizabeth Boman, wife of Samuel Boman. Mrs. Boman was born in Washington county, Indiana, December 20, 1832, and was, therefore, 49 years, 7 months and 20 days old at the time of her death. She was first united in marriage to Mr. Robert Kite, but after a few years was left a widow with two small children. After about two years of widowhood, she was married on the 28th day of December, 1861, to her present bereaved husband. By her last husband she became the mother of four children, all boys, one of whom has preceded her to the spirit land. In early life Mrs. Boman united with the Christian church, but on coming to this county she united with the Baptist church, at Little Sandcreek, and has been an honored member about twenty years, her membership only terminating with her call to come up to the church triumphant. For some time sister Boman was a great sufferer, having been afflicted with that terrible disease-cancer; and once she passed through a severe surgical operation, which afforded her but temporary relief, when it returned with such fearful malignity that in about six weeks it did its fatal work. While she desired to live for the benefit of her family, she also expressed herself as ready to go-even anxious to lay her weary body down to rest. She gave the clearest evidence possible of her complete preparation for the better land, and gave to her children and friends a farewell talk, in which she urged them to meet her in Heaven. Thus she passed from our midst, a kind neighbor, affectionate wife and tender mother. She will be long missed and mourned by church and neighbors, but more by her husband and children, whose loss now seems irreparable. But submissively let us all bow to the will of God, our Heavenly Father. Of our sister we can say- O change! O wondrous change! Burst are the prison bars! This moment there- So low in mortal pain- And now beyond the stars.
