The Republic Columbus, Indiana Thursday, February 2, 1911 Page 6 George Burnett Dead. George Burnett, aged 64 years, an old resident of this city, died yesterday afternoon at Washington, Ind. The body will be brought to Columbus tomorrow for burial. The time of the funeral is not yet definitely fixed. The Republic Columbus, Indiana Friday, February 3, 1911 Page 6 Brought Here For Burial. The body of George Burnett, who died at Washington, Ind., was brought here this morning and taken to the home of his son, Curtis Burnett, on Sycamore street. Funeral services at the residence Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W.H. Book, with burial in the Lambert cemetery. The Washington Herald has the following to say about Mr. Burnett's death: George Burnett, elevator operator at the Cabel & Kauffman stores, died Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Hedge, Washinton avenue and southeast Thirteenth street, aged sixty-two years. Mr Burnett had been a resident of Washington about four years, coming to this city shortly after the death of his wife to make his home with his daughter. Although feeling bad Mr. Burnett worked all day on Monday. He was forced to his bed about 7 o'clock that evening, however, and gradually grew worse, until death. The cause of death is given as cardiac failure; contributory, intestinal obstruction. Mr. Burnett lived at Columubus, this state, prior to his removal to Washington. He is survived by two children, Mrs. Hedge, of this city, and Curtis Burnett, who lives at Columbus. Despite his brief residence in this city Mr. Burnett was well and favorably known among citizens.
