The Columbus Republican Columbus, Indiana Tuesday, November 5, 1895 Page 1 OBITUARY Sarah Burnett was born in this county March 1st, 1834, and died from hemorrhage of the stomach, at her home in Petersville, October 24, 1895, aged 61 years, 7 months and 24 days. She was married to W. Cox November 12, 1849, and by this union three children were born to them, two of them having preceded her to that better land. Mr. Cox died July 9, 1881. She was again married to Henry Smith, September 13 1882. She untited with the M.E. church in early life, in which she has lived a faithrul and consistent member until she was called from the church militant to the church triumphant. "Aunt Sac," as she was familiarly known by in the neighborhood, will be greatly missed, for she was always found at the sick bed of her neighbors and ever ready to lend a helping hand, and it is said by those who knew her best that she hardly had an enemy. She leaves a husband, one son and five grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death. Her remains were taken to the church on Saturday, October 26th, where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. G.L. Curtiss, assisted by Rev. Louis King. The remains were taken to the Sand Hill Cemetery, followed by a large concourse of relatives adn friends, where they now lay at rest.
