The Columbus Republican Columbus, Indiana Thursday, January 28, 1875 Page 3 Obituary Sister Malinda Cox, the subject of this notice, was born July 15th, 1825; died January 15th, 1875; aged 49 years and 6 months. The deceased had been a resident of this county for many years, hence her acquaintance was largely known. She was the last and only remaining daughter of a family of seven children, six of whom, including the father and mother, have passed over the Jordan of death, leaving but one to tell the mournful story. Sister Cox leaves a kind and affectionate husband, seven loved children, with a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. In early life the deceased felt the great need of preparing for this solemn hour of death, and while her heart was yet tender she sought Christ in the forgiveness of all her sins. She united with the Bethel Baptist Church when quite young, and ever since that time she has tried, by the grace of God, to adorn her profession. In the death of sister Cox, the church has lost one of her oldest and best members, the community one of its choicest neighbors, and the family one of its precious members. As a companion and another, none can fill the place thus made vacant by death-ever kind, affectionate and good. But our loss is her eternal gain. Her funeral took place at the church on Sunday, the 16th inst., in the presence of a very large and attentive congregation. Thus another mother in Israel has gone home to rest. Mother thou art gone to rest; Thy toils and cares are o'er; And sorrow, pain and suffering Shall ne'er distress thee more. -H.R.T.
