The Columbus Republican, January 21, 1875 OBIT: Another one of our most useful and beloved citizens gone. Although we are made to mourn the death of Mr. Dean, we feel that he is not lost but gone before, and we feel assured that he has laid down the burden of life to be at rest with the Master. His life was that of an exemplary Christian. In his family, he was mild and gentle as a husband and father could be, and as a neighbor he was ever generous and sociable, and as a Christian was a devoted an zealous worker. He was only ill a few days, but that calm, patient endurance that characterized his life, made him mild and pleasant through his entire sufferings. In his calmest moments he conversed freely with those around him. He spoke to his wife and others of being warned of this, and asserted his willingness and readiness to go from hence and he with his Master. Mr. Dean was born in Ador County, Kentucky, 1822, moved to Bartholomew County, Indiana, in an early day, was united in marriage to Elizabeth Tooley in 1841, and joined the M. E. Church in 1847, and in 1851 God spoke peace to his soul, and the remainder of his life was spent in the service of his Master. At age of 52 years, 10 months, and 5 days, after a few days illness, he was called to receive his reward. Submitted by: Jim Cox
