The Republic Columbus, Indiana Monday, March 14, 1898 Page 2 Obituary Adam D.C. Glick was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, March 30, 1839; died Feb. 28, 1898, at his home two miles north of Burnsville, Ind., after a lingering illness of three months. He was married in April, 1861, to Miss Elizabeth Knox, which union lasted until her death in June, 1872. Three children were born to them, two of whom died in childhood. The remaining one, Mrs. Alice Foore, of Parsons, Kansas alone survives him. He was again married Dec. 19, 1872, to Mrs. Louisa Williamson Cummage, at Scipio, Ind. To them were born three children, all of whom are living, and with their mother are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving, devoted father. Mr. Glick united with the Trinity M.C. Church in 1886 and has been a faithful, consistent christian since. By his special request the funeral services were conducted at Trinity by Rev. Daniel Ryan, of Utica, Ind., former pastor of that church. He was also an honored member of the Masonic Lodge of Columbus, which order officiated at his burial which took place March 2, 1898, in the beautiful cemetery of Garland Brook. Uncle Adam (as he was familiarly called) will be sadly missed, not only in the home circle but in the community where he lived. He was a generous, unassuming man, whom to know was to love. His pleasant smile and kind words were extended to all. He expressed himself ready and willing to go when the summons should come for him. We should not mourn as those without hope, for we know he has gone to his eternal reward and will await his loved ones over there. Just one week since we laid him to rest, And folded his cold hands on his breast. In silence he suffered, in patience he bore, Until God called him home to suffer no more. Too soon he was called away; Yes all too soon death held its sway. As by his grave we sit and weep, Our sobs and tears cannot wake him from sleep. The depth of our sorrow tongues cannot tell- At the loss of him we loved so well; And while he lies in his peaceful sleep, His sacred memory we always shall keep. L.C.
