Columbus Republic 27 Oct 2009 Mary Marie Johnson Azalia Mary Marie Johnson, 82, of Azalia, died at 8:38 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Columbus Regional Hospital emergency room. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a former owner of restaurants in Columbus. A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, she enjoyed her children and her dogs, sewing, doing crafts, dancing and keeping collectibles. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Robert E. Lay and Minister Robert Daley Boles officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Azalia Methodist Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Survivors include her husband; children, Gloria (Ernest) Quicksell of Columbus, Roger Brown of Azalia, Shirley Doty of North Vernon, Nellie Sullivan of Columbus, Leroy (Rhonda) Brown of Azalia, Delilah (David) Leffler of Florida, Karen S. Brown of New Jersey, Timothy (Diane) Brown of Azalia, Yvonne Kilgore of Azalia and David Brown of Columbus; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Shadrack McClain; her first husband, Ray Edward Brown; her second husband, Roy F. Brown; a son, Anthony Ray Brown; a son-in-law, Gerald E. Robert E. Lay and Minister Robert Daley Boles officiating. Autumbrezze Phillips read a poem, and special memories were shared by family and friends. Burial was at Azalia Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers were her sons, Roger, Leroy, Timothy and David Brown; grandsons, Ryan and Chad Brown and Robert Sullivan; and family friend, Rick Budd.
