The Republic Columbus, Indiana Thursday, November 14, 1876 Page 3 OBITUARY Death has claimed another of out old pioneers. Phillip Michaels, familiarly known as "Father Michaels," expired this morning at 10 o'clock. He had long been quite feeble and his death was not unexpected. He was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, in 1802, and was near seventy-seven years old. He had long been a citizen of Columbus and was respected and loved by all, and his death will cause a pang to the hearts of many who were wont to greet the kind old man daily in his lifetime. He was a consistent member of the Christian church, lived a long life of usefulness and in his ripe old age was taken home to receive his reward. The funeral services will be held at his late residence on Sycamore street, church services afterward, conducted by Eld. Z.T. Sweeney. He will be buried by the Masonic Fraternity of which he had long been an honored member.
