The Republic Columbus, Indiana Monday, October 6, 1879 Page 4 OBITUARY The following obituary of Dr. John P. Scott, who at one time practiced in this city, and who died in Pittsburg, on Wednesday, September 24th, in the 56th year of his age, is taken from the Pittsburg Commericial Gazette: The death was announced yesterday of Dr. John P. Scott, who was for may years a partner with Mr. James B. Lyon in the O'Hara Glass Works, and as such well know and highly esteemed by the business community. Dr. Scott had recently removed with his family to New Albany, Ind., where he pursued the practice of medicine. While there he was attacked by a wasting fever. He came to Pittsburg last May for treatment, but, although he received every luxury and attention which the love of famil and friends could suggest, the disease proved to be too deep seated and he expired yesterday morning at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Church, in Hazelwood. Many friends will deeplhy mourn his death, and it can be truly said that the world is better for him having lived in it.
