The Evening Republican Columbus, Indiana March 2, 1885 Death of Uncle Billy. Uncle Billy Sisk, the well-known old colored gentleman, died at the County Asylum yesterday, worn out by life’s long journey. Uncle Billy was in the cruel days before was a slave owned by the father of Will Sisk, whose plantation was in Kentucky, not far from Louisville…Proverbially honest in character, he was a representative of his race…Though it was claimed he was over a hundred, those who knew him best put his age at about 97. His burial took place this afternoon.
