This obituary for my husbands great grandfather was in the Columbus Evening Republican dated Sept. 6, 1895. Death date Sept. 5, 1895. Death's Doings SNYDER-George K. Snyder(Snider), aged 29, operator and bill clerk at the Big 4, died yesterday forenoon of typhoid fever. He was taken sick Saturday, August 17, and was barely able to work. The agent, Mr. Smith, was away. Monday morning Mr. Snyder went to work, but Mr. Smith asked him to go home, as he was not able to work. After noon he went back to the depot, but could scarcely get back home. He continued to grow worse and never rallied. He leaves a wife and two children, aged one and ten years. He was born July 26, 1866 and was assistant Big Four at Westport, under his cousin John Cummins, for two years, and there learned the business, and had been here about two years, as operator of the Big Four. His sudden death was a sad blow to his family. He was an honest, hard working man and will be miss by railroad boys. Mr. Snyder's father, Alfred Snyder, of Bloomfield, Ky., arrived last evening to attend the funeral. The funeral will take place at 1 o'clock this afternoon, from the family home, on the end of 4th street. Rev. -- probably officiating. ---- Cemetery. The rest is cut off but he is buried in Donner Cemetery Michele Snider
