The Republic Columbus, Indiana Thursday, December 1, 1904 Page 1 DEATH OF ARCHIE TEBOE Well Known Man and Old Resident of City and County Died Here Last Night. Archie Teboe, who has been sick for the past few weeks, died at the Sanitarium Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock. He was one of the old residents of the county and was considered one of the most substantial citizens in the city. For several years he lived on the corner of Eighth and Washington streets but a few years ago sold this place to Dr. A. Rice and since that time has made his home at hotels. Mr. Teboe was born in Darke county, Ohio, May 16, 1827. He received the usual elementary education given in those days and at the age of eighteen started out in life for himself. His first work was as a farm hand and he was paid $115 a year for three years. During that time he managed to save $200 and was married shortly after to Miss Susannah Coblentz. In the fall of 1850 Mr. Teboe came to this county and rented a farm. In ten years he had saved enough money to buy a farm of his own, and the Teboe farm now consists of 252 acres of good land. In 1873 he retired from farm life and moved to this city, where he spent the remainder of his days. Mrs. Teboe died in 1901. Two children were born to them and both are dead. Mr. Teboe was a member of the United Brethren chruch and a republican in politics. The announement of the funeral will be made later, as the undertakers have been waiting to-day for the arrival of relatives.
