The Republic Columbus, Indiana Thursday, February 7, 1901 Page 4 BEVERLY B. TOOLEY Father of Eighteen Children, Died at His Home Thursday Morning. Beverly B. Tooley, one of the oldest and best known residents of the county, died at 1:25 o'clock this morning. He was eighty-three years of age and has lived in Bartholomew county since he was a small boy. Death resulted from infirmities of advanced age, hastened by an attack of grip. Beverly B. Tooley was a native of Kentucky and was born July 5, 1818. When a lad seven years of age he was brought to this county, in which he has lived ever since. For forty-two years he lived on the Frank Crump farm near Hawpatch and he also lived in East Columbus and near Hope. He was the father of eighteen children, fourteen of whom are still living. He was marred twice, his first wife being Miss Annie Sauers. To this union was born five children, three of whom survive: Mrs. Lucy Pruitt, of Columbus; John Tooley, of Jonesville, and Orlando Tooley, of this city. A little over a half century ago he was married again, this time to Miss Eunice Bullard, who preceded him in death three months ago this coming Sunday. Thirteen children were born to this union and eleven survive: Joseph Tooley, of Columbus; Aaron Tooley, of Columbus; George Tooley, of Hawpatch; William Tooley, of Indianapolis; Walter Tooley, of near Hope; Wesley Tooley, of Cincinnati; Beverly Tooley, of near Petersville; Mrs. Linnie Wagner, of East Columbus; Mrs. Nora Botkins, of East Columbus; Mary Huffman, of this city, and Mrs. Millie Talley, of near Hawcreek. The remains will be interred in Garland Brook Friday afternoon. Funeral services will be conducted at his late home between Fifteenth and Sixteenth on Franklin street at 2 o'clock by Rev. Blake.
