The Columbus Republican Columbus, Indiana Thursday, November 2, 1899 Page 8 Mrs. Harry Vandergriff died in Hamilton, Ohio, Tuesday afternoon about 3:30 o'clock. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gates (both now deceased) formerly well known in this city and she had hosts of friends here who remember her as Miss Bessie Gates. Her sister, Mrs. Joseph Gysie and her cousin Mrs. Ben Niehaus, of this city, left Tuesday for Hamilton, Mrs. Niehaus returned yesterday but Mrs. Gysie will return with the remains which were expected to arrive in this sity last evening. The funeral will occur Friday or Saturday afternoon from the residence of her aunt, Mrs. Amanda Scott, corner of Second and Brown streets, Rev Sweeney officiating. Her husband was formerly of Shelbyville. Mrs. Vandergriff leaves a husband and one child to mourn her sudden death.
