The Republic Columbus, Indiana Monday, January 18, 1904 Page 8 PIONEER HAS PASSED AWAY Jerry F. Williams Died at His Residence Sunday Afternoon-Funeral Tuesday. Jerry F. Williams, one of the best known citizens of Columbus, passed away at his home on Fourth street Sunday afternoon. He had been sick for some time but was not serious until a few days ago, when he grew weaker and never rallied! He was seventy-two years old having been born in Hardin county, Ohio. He came to this city when a young man and was married here shortly before the civil war. When the war broke out he enlisted in company I, 125th Ind. Vol. Inf., and served until the war was over. After that he returned to this city and engaged in business as a harness maker until the past few years, when he did not engage in active business. Besides Mrs. Williams, three daughters survive. The are Mrs. Morton R. Thomas, Miss Bessie and Miss Jessie Williams. The funeral will be held from the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. G. D. Wolfe will conduct the services, which will be under the auspices of the G.A.R. Burial will be in Garland Brook cemetery.
