Cledith A. Davis

Cledith A. Davis, 76, of rural Hartford City, died 5 June 1977 at the Blackford County Hospital after an extended illness. He was a retired employee of Muncie Tree Surgery. He was born in Millgrove on 19 March 1901, son of Lynn and Mae (Curry) Davis. He married Marie Willmann on 25 December 1936, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Cledith L. Davis; a daughter, Isola Davis; and a brother, Thomas Davis; a sister, Mary Burnworth, and 2 grandchildren, all of Hartford City. The Zion Lutheran Church officiated, with burial in the Willmann Cemetery east of Hartford City.

Maria C. Davis

Marie C. Davis, 82, of Hartford City, died 27 December 1991 in Marion General Hospital after an extended illness. A native and life resident of Blackford County, she was born 17 May 1909, the daughter of Lewis Daniel and Clara (Weschke) Willmann. She married Cledith A. Davis in Blackford County on 25 December 1936. His death occurred on 05 June 1977. She was a graduate of the Hartford City High School and Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. A registered nurse, Mrs. Davis worked in the office of the late Hartford City physician, Dr. James U. Dodds. She had also worked at the Blackford County Hospital and Marion General Hospital for 18 years, retiring in 1977. For many years, Mrs. Davis was an Avon representative in this area. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Women's Circle of the church. She was also a charter and life member of RHO Chapter of Omega Nu Tau Sorority, a charter member of B-Square Home Demonstration Club, the Historical Society, Blackford County Farm Bureau, and the Lutheran Nursing Association. Surviving are a daughter, Isola (Mrs. Eugene) Banter, Hartford City; a son, Cledith L. Davis, Hartford City; two grandchildren, Lisa Davis, West Branch, Michigan, and John Davis, Hartford City; two step-grandchildren, Laurie Byall and Jeffery Banter, both of Hartford City; a great-grandson, Rusty Davis, West Branch, Michigan; and four step-great-grandchildren, Brandy and Brad Robbins, Tanner Byall, and Tiffany Banter, all of Hartford City. Burial was in Willman Cemetery."
