In July, 1943, Homer LEDFORD, of Henryville, IN, wrote a letter to Howard MARTIN, delineating the MARTIN BENGE ancestry. He signed the letter, Your Cousin. It begins with Shawnee War Chief BENGE, killed at Big Stone Gap, VA, 1793, includes Thomas MARTIN of VA, and many other MARTINS and BENGES. Who is Homer LEDFORD? How is he related to the MARTINS and BENGES? Would love to contact descendants of this wonderful man. The letter is very precise, and contains much information.

The problem is that the cemetery has either been moved or destroyed as it is not where it is supposed to be. If you have any knowledge of APPLEGATEs in Clark County, please get in touch with me so I can pass the information on to Gail APPLEGATE. This young woman has been searching for this cemetery off and on for several years with no success and I'd sure like to help her.
