Mahlon Neal and family settled in Clay County, Indiana about 1838.  He

married Mary A. Love a daughter of James and Barbara ( Hastings) Love both

natives of Ireland.  Mahlon and Mary had eleven children.  She died in June

1868.  He then married Nancy Shepherd.  They had two children. Picture made

Mahlon was the brother of Rev. John Neal a pioneer preacher of Clay County.  

Both were sons of Henry Neal who was an early settler of Miami County, IN.
