Herbert Armes

Herbert (Herb) Oral Armes, 79, __ Northside Drive, Washington, died at Eastgate Manor Nursing Center at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gill Chapel with the Rev. Mark Dodd officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and Masonic memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born February 21, 1913 in Daviess County to Sherman and Goldie (Davenport) Armes. He married Caroline McDaniel March 15, 1941 and she survives. He was self-employed since 1939 as an electrical contractor. In 1951 he and Berton Moore established Moore & Armes Electrical Company. He attended Bethel United Methodist Church and was a 1930 graduate of Glendale High School where he was valedictorian of his class. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He was Past Master of the Glendale Lodge No. 461, F & AM, and was a member of Washington Chapter No. 92 RAM, Washington Council No. 67, R & SM, and Washington Commandry No. 33 Knight Templar. Surviving are his wife, and two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Lowell (Jane) Johnson, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Mrs. Nick (Jan) Georgion, Valparaiso, Phillip Gayle Armes, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Glen Mac Armes, Washington, nine grandchildren, and one sister and one brother, Mrs. George (Ruth) Young, Indianapolis, and Hobart Armes, Washington. Three sisters and two brothers have died.
