Lucille Armstrong

Lucille Marie Armstrong McKinney, 94, of Washington, died at 10:20 p.m. Friday at Emerald House. Born March 12, 1914, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Cleve and Daisy (Baldwin) Potts. She attended Reeve Township schools and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was a United Methodist Women Senior Services volunteer and a member of Ophelia Homemakers Club. She had worked as a cook at Southside Elementary School. She was a constant treasure to her family and a caring and devoted friend and neighbor. Talented at gardening, quilting and cooking, she also enjoyed crafts, playing cards and bowling. She was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Dallas Riker and Barbara and Robert Murray, all of Washington; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Joann Armstrong of Lafayette, Clarence B. and Connie Armstrong of Springfield, Ill., and Robert and Beverly Armstrong of Washington; grandchildren, Timothy (Patty) Riker, Paul Riker, Kim (Claudia) Murray, Sara (Paul) Grant, C.B. Armstrong III, Brooke (Ryan) Dashner, Jeffrey (Barb) Riker, Kevin (Nancy) Armstrong, Susan (Don) Thie, Amy (Mark) Ridley and Bobby (Shannal) Armstrong; great-grandchildren; Brad Riker, Patrick Riker, Megan Hickey, Jordan Riker, Jenna Smith, Terry Murray, Morgan Thie, Brooke Ridley, Caleb Armstrong, Adam Riker, Mark William Richardson, Bobbie Byrer, Micah Riker, Lisa Edwards, Megan Thie, Alyssa Ridley and Madison Ridley; and great-great-grandchildren, Madison Riker, Keagan Byrer, Montana Edwards, Brittany Murray, Grace Hickey, Kelsey Edwards and Drew Murray. Her first husband, Bernard Armstrong, whom she married June 17, 1933, died Dec. 10, 1969. Her second husband, Roger McKinney, whom she married April 5, 1974, died Sept. 16, 1988. Two grandchildren, Deborah Armstrong and Charles Madison Armstrong; one sister, Martha Evans; and brothers, Ralph, Austin, Friedman, Winton and Junior Potts, are also deceased. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel South United Methodist Church, with Revs. Kevin Armstrong and Marvin Cheek officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and after noon Tuesday at the church. Preferred memorials are to the Bethel United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being made through Gill Chapel.
