Clyde Arthur

Clyde E. "Peanut" Arthur, 81,31014E 19th Street, died in the extended care unit at the Daviess County Hospital Clyde Arthur Wednesday at 7:50 a.m. He had been in failing health for two weeks. The funeral will be at 10 am. Saturday at St. Marys Church. Interment will be at St. Johns Cemetery. Fr. Ronald Zgunda will officiate. Friends may call at the Ed Lee Mortuary from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.The K of C will pray a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Friday. He was born on Sept. 21, 1916 in Daviess County to Edgar and Leona (Strickland) Arthur.They preceded him in death. He married Cordia C. Miller on Feb. 23, 1935 and she survives. Arthur was a coal miner until he suffered an injury. He then became a car salesman and retired from the car business. He had lived in the community for most of his life attending Longfellow Elementary and Washington High School. He was a member of St Marys Church, Knights of Columbus, 50-year Moose Lodge member and Eagles Lodge member. Surviving are his children, Mona J. Small, Washington; Dean Arthur, Greenwood and Eddie "Punk" Arthur, Panama City Beach, Fla. 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and two sisters, Virginia Goyer, Bicknell and Norma Lee Wetzel, Parker, Colo. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Wilson and three brothers, Don, James and Charles.
