Mrs. Banta Passes Away
Mrs. Ella Keith Banta, age 86, 400 East Walnut Street, city, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at her residence. She had a lingering illness for one year and was seriously ill for two hours.
Mrs. Banta was born at Edwardsport, Indiana, October 12, 1873, the daughter of the late Isaac N. and Mary Jane (Alexander) Keith. June 14, 1894, she married Thomas S. Banta and he preceded her in death in 1926.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She was educated in the Daviess County Schools. Children are: Mrs. Zora Perkins, Mrs. Earl (Lillie) Ellis, John Banta, and Ralph Banta, all of this city; James Banta of Indianapolis; and Mrs. Anna McCullough of Phoenix, Arizona. One daughter preceded her in death and two children died in infancy. There are 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Emma Patterson of Bogard Township and Mrs. Myra Allison of Veale Township, survive. Two brothers and three sisters have preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gill Funeral Home with burial in the Bethany Cemetery. Rev. A. B. Clarke will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. The American Legion Auxiliary will pay respects in a body at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Rebekah Lodge will hold services at 7:15 p.m. Thursday
