Harvey Berry Dies Following Long Illness
B. & O. Machinist's Funeral Will Be Saturday Morning
Harvey Berry, 57, B & O mill department machinist, died Wednesday night at 11:25 o'clock at the family home in Veale Township. Death of Mr. Berry was attributed to a complication of ailments, and came after a lingering illness of about two years. He had been seriously ill the past two months.
Native of Veale Township, the deceased was born April 23, 1884, being a son of Eli and Lucinda (Beaver) Berry who preceded him in death. He was married September 21, 1901, to Willa Henson, who survives with six of eight chldren born to the union.
Mr. Berry had been employed as a machinist in the mill room at the B. & O. shops here for the past 27 years and was well and favorably known in the community. He was a member of the Veale Creek Baptist Church, the Woodmen of the World and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America.
The surviving children are Mrs. Lucy Harrell of Albin, Illinois, John F. Berry of Niles, Ohio, James Edward Berry of Dana, Indiana, Ralph Berry and Roy Berry of Veale Township, Mrs. Mary Potts, a daughter died in 1931 and another child died in infancy.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Veale Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Burl Eads officiating, and burial following in the adjoining cemetery.
The body will be removed from the Gill Funeral Chapel late this afternoon and will be returned to the family home in Veale township where friends may call to pay respects.
