Lillian Burkhardt

Lillian May Burkhardt, 87, 1102 Downey Ave., died at 9:22 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. Born Sept. 11, 1919, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of John W. and Ella (Baldwin) Burris. During World War II, she worked at the Reliance parachute factory. She attended Washington schools and Wesley United Methodist Church. She is survived by sons Lyle T. Burkhardt Jr. and Byron Burkhardt and his wife Connie of Washington; grandchildren Rachel Gray, Jennifer Abel, Angela Evans, Randy Burkhardt and Glenn Burkhardt; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers Wilbur Burris, Kenneth Burris and Harold Burris, all of Washington. Her husband, Lyle T. Burkhardt Sr., whom she married June 7, 1941, died June 19, 1982. Also deceased are sister, Marie Bank, and brothers, Lester, Roy, Earl, Robert and Cecil Burris. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gill Chapel with Rev. Clyde Wake officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
