William H. Chestnut

20 Jul 1864 - 8 Dec 1938

Odon, Ind., Dec. 8
William H. Chestnut, 74, widely known farmer of Madison township, died at 12:30 o'clock this morning at the family home, one mile north of Odon, following a serious illness of one day. Born on July 20, 1864, the deceased was a son of Felix and Harriet (Wade) Chestnut, and spent virtually all his life in the Odon community, where he was widely known and had a wide circle of acquaintances. The deceased was a member of the Shiloh Church south of Odon, and had been an elder of the church for 50 years. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Huette Poindexter & Sons will have charge of the funeral. Surviving Mr. Chestnut are the widow Margaret Ann Lamb Chestnut, and the following children: A.L. (Arthur Leeman) Chestnut, Chicago; J.S. (John S.) Chestnut, Taylorville, Ill.; Mrs. J.H. (Treasie) Tipton, Maryville, Tenn.; Wm. F. (William Felix) Chestnut, Washington; Mrs. J.L. (Flora) Barrett, Fisher, Ill.; J.M. (George W.) Chestnut, Anderson, Ind.; Mrs. Frank (Maggie) Gilbert, Bradford, Ohio. The eldest daughter Sarah Lucy Chestnut Barrett predeceased her father in 1925.
