John Perry Cissell

Rev. John Perry Cissell Sr., 70, of Washington, formerly of Vincennes Avenue, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday at Daviess Community Hospital.
He was born June 23, 1938, in Daviess County to LeLos B. and Dorothy Louise (Padgett) Cissell. He married Lillian June Colber on May 7, 1960, and she died July 1, 2007.
He was a retired state highway employee and was pastor of the Vincennes Avenue Wesleyan Church from 1989 to 2004, where he was also a member. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War on a peacekeeping mission. He attended Washington schools.
Surviving are his daughters, Joy Payne of Hymera, the Rev. Jewel Gilley, and her husband, Gene, of Washington; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Vickki Cissell Jr. of Hymera and Jeff and Alina Cissell of Washington; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Two sisters, Patty Lou Shelton, Rebecca Shell Jenne, and one brother, Walter S. Cissell, all of Washington, also survive.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Sue Murray and Eva Mary Chadd and two brothers, Donald Ray Cissell and Wilbur Gary Cissell.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Vincennes Avenue Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Robert England officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gill Chapel and after noon Monday at the church.
