Harold J. Clauss

Harold J. Clauss, 57, 202 West VanTrees, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the Daviess CountyHospital. He had been in failing health for four years and seriously ill the past week.He was a retired McCord Corp. employee and a veteran of overseas service in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion and the Eagles Lodge. A lifetime resident of the community, he was born Jan. 6, 1919 to the late Nicholas and Mary J. (Norris) Clauss. He attended St. Mary's schools.Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. K. D. (Cynthia) Thompson, Washington;Two brothers, Robert L. and John R. Clauss, both of Washington three sisters;Mrs. Lloyd (Dorothy) Watford, Washington, Mrs. Mose W. (Margaret) Gootee, North Vernon,and Mrs. Archie (Loretta) Rego, Bruceville. One brother, James, has died.Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St, Mary's Church with burial in St. John's cemetery.Friends may call at the Ed Lee Mortuary after 7 p.m. today. Members of the parish and friends will pray a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.Eagles Lodge services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
