Asel Colbert

Asel Colbert, 85, 1214 Downey Ave., city, passed away at 12:30 a.m. today at his home after being seriously ill for three months. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Colbert was born in Veale township on February 2, 1873, son of Asel & Amanda A Rodarmel Colbert. He married Margaret Lillian Colbert on Nov. 23, 1895 & she survives. The deceased was a retired farmer a member of the Bethel Methodist Church. He was educated in the Veale township schools. Surviving besides the wife are four sons & a daughter: Roy Colbert, Madison; Ralph Colbert, South Bend; Fred Colbert, city Leonard Colbert, Evansville, & Mrs. Russell (Leona) Lewis, city a son Alvin, proceeded him in death. There are 14 grand-children & 8 great-grand children. A half-sister, Mrs. Harriett Wonder, Veale township, & several nieces & nephews also survive. Funerial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gill Chapel with burial in Bethel cemetery. Rev. Walter Keeny assisted by Rev. John Thrasher will officiate. Friends may call at Gill's after 7 p.m. today.
