ZIBA COSBY DIES AT 92
Daviess County lost one of its oldest residents
Saturday evening at 7:30 when Ziba F. Cosby, 92-year-old retired farmer
died at the home of his son, Henry E. Cosby, Portersville road. He had
been ill for the past 30 days. Surviving is his wife, Sarah McConnell
Cosby, who is 95. The couple was married on Dec 17, 1878, recently celebrating
their 69th wedding anniversary. Mr. Cosby was born on April 2, 1855,
at the old Cosby homeplace in Harrison township. He was the son of Washington
and Martha (Thomas) Cosby. He received his education in the Harrison
twp. schools. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Cosby. Three preceded
him in death and the following four survive: Clay, Frank, Edward, and
Henry, all of this comminity. He also leaves 27 grandchildren and 16
great grandchildren. Mr Cosby was the last surviving member of his family.
Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. at the Gill funeral home with
the Rev. Ray Bartle in charge and burial in Veale Creek cemetery.
