Mrs. Stella Downey Dies In Montgomery Funeral Monday Morning For Resident of Montgomery MONTGOMERY, IND., AUG 1 - A year's illness from cancer of the stomach ended in the death of Mrs. Stella Margaret (Schultz) Downey at her home in Montgomery at 7:30 o'clock this morning. She had been in a serious condition for the last nine months. She was the daughter of Phillip and Margaret (Harbison) Schultz and was born in Rutherford Township, Martin County, November 27, 1872. She was married to Thomas Downey, April 22, 1902 and for the last 40 years they had been residents of the Montgomery community. Mrs. Downey was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Church in Montgomery at 9 o'clock Monday morning with burial following in St. Peter's Cemetery.. The body was to be returned to the Downey home at 6 o'clock this evening from the Emil-Norris & Sons Funeral Home. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Downey leaves the following children: Walter, of Montgomery, Mrs. Louis A. Cunningham, Detroit, Mrs. A. L. Grannan, Montgomery, Miss Margaret Downey, of Cincinnati. Living half-brothers and half-sisters are Frank Schultz, Detroit; W. G. Schultz, Patomac, Illinois; Roy, C. E. and Walter Schultz of Donovan, Illinois; Mrs Anna Bruner, Watska, Illinois; Mrs. George Cannon, Washington; and Mrs. Charles Norris of Terre Haute. A sister Mrs. Carrie Klusmeier is dead. There are also eleven grandchildren.
