Bernard Jackman

Bernard L. Jackman, 72, 608 S.W. Fifth Street, died at the Daviess County Hospital at 9:12 a.m. Saturday. He was born on May 9, 1913 in Daviess County to David S. and Emma Bell (Allen) Jackman. He married Christina Bauer on September 14, 1940 and she survives. Also Suriving is one daughter, Sandra F. White, Washington, and sisters, Mrs. Marvel Osborne, Logansport; Mrs. Constance Swickard, Loogootee; Mrs. Garnett Harris, Indianapolis; and Mrs. Ruth Kruse, Park Ridge, Illinois. Four Grandchildren who had made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Jackman, Stephanie White, Philip White, Julie White and Jay D. Heffernan also survive. Preceding him in death were three sisters, one brother and one daughter. He was a retired carpenter with John Kretz; he worked with Jerry Young Construction, and he was a former employee of the Indianapolis Power and Light Company, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and served as treasurer since 1952. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, at the Gill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Ralph Bright officiating. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery, south of Alfordsville. Friends may call at Gill Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Monday.
