DAVID LEE, 85, DIES FOLLOWING LONG ILLNESS,
Funeral of Retired Farmer Will be Held Tuesday Afternoon David R. Lee, 85, retired farmer of Washington township, died at 11:10 o'clock Sunday night at the home of a son, Charlie Lee, north of Washington on the Edwardsport road. Death of the aged man was attributed to infirmities of old age, and came after a confinement of several months. For the past six weeks he had been in serious condition. Born in Decatur county, this state, Mr. Lee was a son of John and Anna (McCoy) Lee, who were both from Virginia. His birth date was Sept 7, 1850. In 1888 Mr. Lee came to Daviess county to make his home, and had been here ever since. He was married on January 29, 1874, to Sarah H. Pierce, and she survives with four of six children born to this union. Mr. Lee was a member of the Sugarland Methodist church. Surviving children are Lester Lee, of Washington township, Carlton Lee of Washington township, Lottie Standley of Linton, IN, and Charles Lee of the Edwardsport road. The two children who preceded the father in death were Lawrence, who died in 1925, and Orla, who died at the age of four years. One brother also survives Mr. Lee. He is Charlie Lee of Newcastle, IN. There are also seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body of Mr. Lee was taken to the home of Lester Lee on Road 50 east of Washington, this afternoon, and will remain there until the hour of the funeral. The funeral has been arranged for 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with services to be held at the Lester Lee residence, Rev. O.M. Deal officiating. Interment will be made in the Veale Creek cemetery. Ed Keller will have charge of the funeral.
