John Perkins Dies Following Short Illness
Funeral Sunday Afternoon at Residence in Elnora

Elnora, IN—June 26.—John Oscar Perkins, 81, died at his home in Elnora last night at 11:20 p.m.  Death was due to a series of complications after a serious illness of four weeks.

He was born at Montgomery, November 14, 1861, the son of Roseberry and Perlina (Young) Perkins.  On February 25, 1882, he married Jeanette Elmore who survives together with five children of the nine born to them.

Living children are: Mrs. Minnie Draper of Grand Rapids, MI; Mrs. Ruth Nolley of Indianapolis; Leo Perkins of Willard, Ohio; Clyon Perkins of Danville, IL; Mrs. Catherine Sheetz of Plainville.  There are 25 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother and two sisters: William Perkins of Plainville; Mrs. Sarah Young of California, and Mrs. Adeline Yung of Elnora.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the family residence, with Rev. C.H. Buchanan of Odon in charge, assisted by Rev. H.J. Buchanan of Elnora.  Burial will be in Plainville cemetery.  The deceased was a member of the Elnora Christian church.

After preparation at the Poindexter & Wampler funeral home, the body will be removed to the family residence at 6 p.m. this evening, after which time friends may call to pay their respects.
