U. G. Perkins Died Thursday
Ulysses Grant Perkins, 94, 11 N. Meridan Street, city, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colvin Nursing Home after being seriously ill for six months. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Perkins was born in Barr Township on November 23, 1863, the son of Albert and Hannah (Honey) Perkins. He married Laura McKnight on December 29, 1889, and she preceded him in death on November 23, 1938. In 1945, he married Elizabeth Wilson and she preceded him in death in 1953. Mr. Perkins was a member of the First Christian Church and was educated in the Barr township schools. He was a retired farmer. Surviving is a son, Samuel Perkins, Barr township, and a daughter, Mrs. Lillie Baker, Indianapolis. One son preceded him in death. There are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gill Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. A. B. Clarke will officiate. Friends may call at the Chapel after 7 p.m. today.
