Farmer Found Dead In Barn Over-Exertion Causes Death of George Potts
Monroe City, Indiana, May 18, 1940
George W. Potts, 73, farmer, living in Wheatland Route 2, was found dead in the barn at his home this afternoon at 5 o'clock. Dr. L. L. Gilmore, county coroner called to the home, announced death resulted from a heart attack caused by exertion. Mr. Potts was working in the field near the home when the Saturday afternoon rain came up. Unhitching the horses, he drove to the barn. It is believed his haste to get the team to the barn before the rain became to hard caused exertion. He was found by members of the family. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lydia Potts, and three step-children, Willis and Chester Parker and Mrs. Ed McCormick. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.
