Thomas Potts Dies At 85
Thomas Potts, 85, Viola Avenue, city, passed away at 8:30 a.m. today at his residence. A former school teacher and retired railroad worker. Mr. Potts had been ill 14 months and seriously ill for two weeks. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethern Church. Born June 21, 1868 in Harrison Township, the son of Thomas and Jane Armes Potts, he married Charlotte Heller on March 27, 1892 and she survives. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. Mr. Potts, a lifelong resident of this county, received his education in the Harrison Township schools and later attended Teachers Normal College.Survivors besides the widow, are three children, Mrs. Charles (Glenn) M. Lee, city; Hallie A. Potts, Muncie, Indiana; and Ralph Potts, Cowan, Indiana. Three children are deceased as are four brothers and six sisters. Mrs. Potts was the last surviving member of his family. He also leaves nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Runeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Oak Grove Church in Reeve Township with the Rev. R. P. Hawkins in charge. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The funeral procession will leave the Keller mortuary at 1 p.m. Saturday to go to the church. Friends may call at the mortuary after 7 p.m. today to pay respects.
