Washington--William Eugene Potts Sr., Petersburg, died at 4:58 p.m. Monday, Dec 28, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Born Sept 25, 1927, in Daviess County, he was the son of Walter J. and Mary Lucille (Berry) Potts, and was raised by his grandparents, Ben and Barbara Potts. A Methodist, he attended the Glendale and Alfordsville schools and retired from Kimball International in Jasper. Survivors include his wife, Wanetta (Dinkins) Potts whom he married June 22, 1948; two sons, William E. "Gene" Potts of Petersburg and Richard J. "Jack" Potts of Newburgh; a sister, Eldena Palmer of Washington; five half-sisters, Betty Westhafer of TX, Maxine Grider of MI, Esther Knott of IL, Geraldine Ratcliff of AZ and Myrtle Clements of IN; a half-brother, Benny Potts of Otwell; two stepbrothers, Rex Delaney of Washington and Sammy Joe Delaney of Petersburg; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, a great-granddaughter and two stepgreat-grandchildren. A half sister is deceased. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Birkey officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
