Tuesday Night Crash Claims Second Victim
William J. Robinson, 58 years old, Alfordsville, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday in the Jasper Memorial Hospital of injuries incurred in the same head-on crash Tuesday night which fatally injured his wife, Wilma, age 53.
Robinson and his wife werre enroute to the Daviess County Courthouse to deliver the ballots from Reeve Township precinct one where Robinson had served as election board inspector, when their car was in a head-on collision with an automobile driven by John Harder, 19, Loogootee. Harper and two passengers, Roy Williams, Jr., Alfordsville and John Freyberger, 19, Route 1, Loogootee, were injured in the accident which occurred at the crest of a hill in Martin County two miles east of Alfordsville. State police said the Harder car was on the wrong side of the road.
William J. Robinson was born August 19, 1909 in Manchester, New Hampshire, the son of Albert E. and Ellen J. (Bustarad) Robinson and was a veteran of World War II. He was treasurer of the Alfordsville town board. Only nieces and nephews survive.
Double funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Alfordsville Methodist Church with Rev. Orin Stephens in charge and burial in Old Union Cemetery. Military services will be accorded at the grave. Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home in Loogootee.
