John Steen Died Tuesday Morning
Influential Citizen of Harrison Township Passes Away Christmas Morning Harrison township lost another aged and influential resident Tuesday morning when John F. Steen died about 9 o'clock following a year's illness of Bright's disease and heart trouble. Mr. Steen was born in Harrison township, November 2, 1850, and was sixty-seven years old. His long residence there had made him a familiar figure in that part of the county and he was favorably known to everybody. He was held in high esteem. Mr. Steen was married twice. His first wife was Mary K. Loke and Alice Hedrick of Alfordsville, was his second wife. Surviving him are eight children. They are Ashbury, of the Philippine Islands; Mrs. Albert McCafferty, Ellis Steen of Nebraska, John Steen of Illinois, Robert Steen of New York City, Mrs. Emmett Hess of Rockford, Ill.; Orion Steen of Auburn, Ill., and Edison Steen also of Illinois. Mr. Steen had been a Presbyterian for many years. Funeral services will be held at East Union church near Glendale at 10:30 Thursday morning and will be conducted by Rev. W. P. Hosken of this city.
