F. E. VanWinkle Died Yesterday
Frank E. Vanwinkle, 6 S.E. 7th street, city, died at 1:15 yesterday at the Daviess County Hospital after being seriously ill for five days. Cause of death was listed as complication.
Mr. VanWinkle was born July 8, 1871, in Daviess County, the son of William and Eliza (Allen) VanWinkle. His first wife, Nancy J. Hedrick, VanWinkle, preceded him in death, and his second wife, Allie J. Hedrick VanWinkle, preceded him in death January 14, 1951. Mr. VanWinkle was a member of the First Christian Church of Washington.
He is survived by one son, Claude VanWinkle, Long Beach, CA; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Fitch, city; and a step-daughter, Mrs. Roy (Donna) Carpenter of Loogootee. There are nine grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving a sister, Mrs. Lula Neideffer, Loogootee, and a brother, Charles VanWinkle, Long Beach, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the V.L. Poindexter Chapel, with Rev. A.B. Clarke and Rev. Robert Secrist officiating. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the V.L. Poindexter Chapel.
