Anson E. Wagler

CANNELBURG — Anson E. Wagler, 83, died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday at his residence. Born June 8, 1926, in Daviess County, he was the son of Eli and Eliza (Schrock) Wagler. He was a dairy farmer most of his life until retirement. After that he worked part-time at Daviess County Metal Sales and Donut Hill. He was a member of Berea Mennonite Church and a Sunday school teacher there for many years. He collected donations for the C.R.O.P., a hunger organization. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Verda E. (Gingerich) Wagler; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Connie Wagler, Cannelburg; Calvin and Joie Wagler, Washington; Mark and Denise Wagler of Loogootee, and Daniel and Renee Wagler of Shoals; daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Daniel Cox, Jan and Don Swartz and Rhoda and David Swartz, all of Cannelburg; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Bennie E. Wagler of Montgomery and Noah E. Wagler of Loogootee. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Enos, David and Eli Wagler, and one sister, Suzanne Wagler. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Berea Mennonite Church, with Eddie Graber officiating. Burial will be in Berea Mennonite Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are being made through Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home.
