JOHN W. WHITE DIED AT HOSPITAL
Death claimed John William White, 81, 12 N. Meridian Street, retired carman of the B & O shops at 10:30 Wednesday evening at the Daviess County Hospital where he had been seriously ill for the past two weeks. Complications were the cause of death. Deceased was born in this county on Oct 27, 1867, the son of Gilbert and Nancy (Alford) White. He was married to the late Carrie Garland on July 24, 1887. She died in 1945. Mr. White was educated in the Daviess county schools. He was a member of the First Baptist church, the Moose lodge and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday at the Aikman Creek church. The Rev. Dr. W.R. Seat will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. He is survived by a son, Lloyd White of Monroe City,two children having preceded him in death, a son, Raymond, and a daughter, Cordelia Cowan. One grand son and two great grandsons survive, Wilbur Lee White, city, and Terre Lee & John Raymond. Mrs. Nancy Dayton of Veale township is a half-sister. Also surviving are a host of friends and relatives to mourn his passing. Friends may call at the Gill Mortuary until the hour of services. The casket will not be opened at the church.
