These are burials of those who received the Sacrament at St. Michael's Church. As updates are received on those from other Catholic Churches they will be added.

St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery

The cemetery is an integral part of the Catholic Church and throughout the year special days are set aside to remember the deceased. St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church was established in 1881, at the same time the farm land surrounding the church was sold to Michael L. Schoudel. Due to the poor health of Michael Schoudel's father, his mother purchased one acre of ground from Michael for the sum of $50.00, the ground was donated to the church for a cemetery. The original portion of the cemetery was located on a hill approximately 1,000 feet behind the church to the west (West of Old 27 on County Road 10). On April 17, 1881 John Mathias Schoudel died, the day the plans for the cemetery were completed, he was buried in the middle of the new cemetery and a fence erected around the grave to keep out the grazing cattle.

A burial program was adopted which lasted for generations, married people were buried in rows across the cemetery as they died, unlike today spouses were not buried side by side. The west side of the cemetery was reserved for unmarried people and babies.

In 1917 from donations the members of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church erected a large concrete crucifix in the the middle of the cemetery. By 1937 very few gravesites remained, it was at that time Lena Schoudel donated ground for an addition to the back of the cemetery and a circle drive thru the cemetery. Seven acres to the west side of the present cemetery were donated by Helen Schortgen in 1992.
