John Parnell (deceased), was a son of Richard Parnell and Elizabeth Howard; was 
born in Norfolk County, England, April 6, 1826. Married in this township, 
September 29, 1850, Sevila Hawn; of Ohio, and died May 28, 1855. One the 23d 
of March, 1856, Mr. Parnell and Miss Catharine Croy , a native of Ohio, were 
united in marriage in Smithfield Township; children-Curtis C., Amos 
(deceased), George, Frank, Emma, Amanda, Laura and Etta. Mr. Parnell had a 
farm of 240 acres of good land, with fine residence and outbuildings. Was a man 
of sterling qualities, and well thought of by all who knew him. He died January 
31, 1879.
