On the 15th of October, 1868, he was united in marriage with Susan Nicholls, of this county, on coming to this county, Mr. Swineford engaged in the grocery business, until in 1869, he embarked in the hotel business, a calling for which he is eminently fitted. The wooden structure of that day has been replaced by a hand-some brick, a view of which will be seen on page 24. The property that he has accumulated is the result of energy, economy, perseverance and enterprise. In the years 1863-64, Mr. Swineford made a trip to California, to get a better idea of the country than could be had in any other way. Submitted by: Arlene Goodwin Auburn, Indiana Agoodwin@ctlnet.com
