Braun, proprietor of Braun’s meat market, Waterloo, Ind. was born in Saxony, Germany, Feb. 28, 1831. He was reared and educated in his native country, and when eighteen years of age entered the German army and served two years and seven months. In August, 1852, he came to the United Stated; landed in New York, and thence proceeded to Licking County, Ohio. He soon after settled in Fort Wayne, Ind., where he remained till 1870, when he removed to Waterloo. He has been engaged in his present line of business since coming to this country, and has met with a successful patronage. He was married in Fort Wayne to Margaret Heath. They have had four children; but three are living---Katie, William and George. Mr. Braun is a member of the Knights of Honor. In politics he has affiliated with the Democratic party till the campaign of 1884, when he voted for St. John, the Prohibition candidate for President.
