William Knisely, deceased, was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, Jan. 1, 1804, a son of John Knisely, a native of Pennsylvania, of Swiss parentage. In 1841 Mr. Knisely came to De Kalb County and entered a tract of timbered land from the Government, which he cleared and on which he lived till his death, April 5, 1860. He was thrice married. His first wife was Susan Burl, and to them were born six children---Harriet, Elizabeth, Rhuama, Sarah, Solomon and Martha J. His second wife, Elizabeth Snyder, lived only a year after their marriage.
