Washington Teeters was born in Stark County, Ohio, Oct. 6, 1827, the second 
son and fourth child of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Roller) Teeters, his father 
a native of Pennsylvania and his mother of Tennessee.   When fifteen years 
of age he began learning the carpenter’s trade of his father.  In 1850 he 
came to Indiana and worked at this trade in De Kalb County four years.  In 
1854 he bought the farm where he now lives.  At that time the land was 
heavily timbered, but he has cleared and improved and now has 120 acres of 
the choicest land in the county.  He has been a prominent man of the 
township, and has held several offices of trust, among others, Justice of 
the Peace eight years and Township Trustee six years.  Mr. Teeters has been 
twice married.  Lydia Ann Houser, a native of Pennsylvania, to who he married 
Aug. 9, 1855, died July 12, 1856.  April 9, 1858, he was married to Ethalinda, 
daughter of Jacob Cupp, of De Kalb County. To them have been born seven 
children---Franklin M., Samuel S., Josiah C., Annie E., Isaac S., Lydia 
B.R. and Mary S.   Mrs. Teeters is a member of the Presbyterian church. 
Politically, Mr. Teeters is a Democrat.  He is a member of the Masonic 
fraternity.
